How can I pay for my plate?
We accept most major debit and credit cards. A credit card processing fee of 2.5% will be charged if paying by credit charge.You can also pay by cheque (this will take between 4-6 to clear), automated bank transfer, by internet banking or bankers draft.
Is VAT applicable on the purchase price of a plate?
VAT will only be charged if the registration plate is owned by a VAT registered person or company.
How long will the transfer of the plate take?
Transfers normally take between 3 - 6 weeks providing all the documentation is sent promptly by the buyer and seller.Some registrations can take longer.
Do I need to own a vehicle to purchase a number plate?
No. You can buy a registration plate for yourself or anybody you know without owning a vehicle. Assign the plate to whoever you like and the plate is yours until you decide to sell it (the certificate for the plate needs to be renewed with DVLA every year).
Can a registration mark be transferred to a new vehicle?
Yes. We need form V55 from the dealer you bought the vehicle from and a valid insurance certificate. A payment to cover the road tax and first registration fee is also applicable.
Do my insurance company need to know if I obtain a new registration mark for my current vehicle?
Yes. It is vital that you inform them of any changes prior to using your vehicle with the new registration on it.
What happens if I want to sell my vehicle which has a registration mark that I recently purchased?
You can transfer the registration mark to your new vehicle providing the your new vehicle is the same age or younger than the one you have. You cannot make your vehicle look newer than it actually is. A transfer is payable to DVLA to do this.
Can a registration mark be transferred from a car to a motorbike?
Yes. This is possible as long as all documentation is correct.
Does the price of the registration mark include the acrylic plates?
Unfortunately not. We can however provide these at a competitive price.
What happens to the registration mark that I am replacing?
This will become void unless you want to retain it. A fee is payable to DVLA and we can advise you on how to do it.
Can a vehicle with a "Q" prefix have a registration mark transferred to it?
No. This is not possible at present as the the origin or age of the vehicle is not certain.
Can I use findmyreg.co.uk to sell a plate on my behalf?
Yes. We won't charge you anything for it either. Our charge will be paid by the purchaser.
